Assaid,“Tolearnanewlanguageistakeonanewculture,anewworld.”FurtherdifficultiesarisewhenitcomestolearningBuddhisminanewlanguage,stillaworldthatawaitsthelightofwisdomandexperiencetobeshed.AnyaspiringtranslatordaringtotakeonthisdauntingtaskoftranslatingBuddhisttextsintotheirownlanguagewouldnodoubtappreciateasmuchhelpastheycanobtain.
ThepresentGlossaryofHumanisticBuddhism《中英人間佛教詞彙選》isafullyrevisedandexpandedversionoftheStandardizedFGSNamesandTermscreatedbytheInternationalBuddhistProgressSociety(IBPS)in2005,andapprovedbytheFGSBoardofDirectors.AdditionalentrieshavebeencompiledfromallEnglishpublicationsunderFoGuangShan’sculturalundertakings,suchas:FoGuangCulturalEnterprise,FoGuangShanInternationalTranslationCenter,Buddha’sLightPublications,FoGuangShanInstituteofHumanisticBuddhism,andBuddha’sLightInternationalAssociation(BLIA).
